I've come to realise that I possess certain traits that might be considered, shall we say, "challenging" to those around me. But instead of trying to change or apologise for who I am, I've decided to own these qualities and celebrate what makes me unique.

Am I the drama?!

I've always been a straight-shooter, never afraid to share my unvarnished opinions. Some might call it brutal honesty; others might call it plain old brutal. But hey, at least I'm consistent, right? My friends have learned to appreciate (or tolerate) my forthright nature, and I've learned to appreciate theirs.

Oh you wanna talk about boundaries?!

I have standards, folks. High ones. And I won't apologize for them. Whether it's fashion, art, music, or current affairs, I know what I like, and I won't settle for anything less.

Here are some key characteristics:

  1. Refined taste: Having a sophisticated sense of what is good, beautiful, and pleasing to me.

  2. Critical thinking: I can analyze and evaluate information, identifying nuances and subtleties that others might miss.

  3. High standards: I expect excellence and am not easily impressed by mediocrity.

  4. Knowledgeable: I have a deep understanding of my area of interest, whether it's art, wine, literature, or cuisine.

  5. Discerning eye: I can spot quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.

  6. Appreciation for nuance: I can distinguish between subtle differences and appreciate the complexities of a particular experience or product.

A Psychology Evaluation

From a psychological perspective, individuals with traits like mine may be classified as having a strong sense of self and a tendency towards perfectionism. This can be both beneficial and detrimental.

On the positive side, having high standards and being unafraid to speak one's mind can lead to personal growth, innovation, and strong relationships built on mutual respect.

However, if left unchecked, these traits can also lead to:

  • Social isolation due to an inability to compromise or connect with others on a deeper level.

  • Anxiety and stress resulting from the pressure to constantly meet high expectations.

  • Difficulty forming and maintaining relationships due to a singularity.

If you're someone who identifies with these traits, here are a few pieces of advice: Practice self awareness, Learn to compromise. Cultivate a certain level of empathy and Find a healthy outlet to express yourself.

By acknowledging both the benefits and drawbacks of our traits, we can work towards becoming more well-rounded, empathetic, and compassionate individuals – without sacrificing our unique spirit and individuality.

Thanks for reading

xoxo
