Redefining Beauty Standards

As I navigate the world as a woman, I'm constantly reminded of the complex and often contradictory nature of beauty.

  1. On one hand, beauty is a source of empowerment, a means of self-expression and confidence.

  2. On the other hand, it's a burden, a weight that presses down on us with its unrealistic expectations and unattainable ideals.

I've always been fascinated by the way beauty is perceived and presented in our society. Who gets to decide what's beautiful, and why? What role do culture, history, and personal experience play in shaping our beauty standards?

As I reflect on my own relationship with beauty, I realize that it's been a journey of discovery and self-acceptance. Growing up, I was bombarded with images of beauty that didn't look like me – sleek hair, flawless skin, and a body that seemed to defy gravity. It took me years to realize that these images were not only unattainable but also damaging, perpetuating a narrow and exclusive definition of beauty.

But beauty is not just about physical appearance; it's also about attitude, personality, and spirit. It's about embracing our unique qualities and rejecting the notion that there's only one way to be beautiful. As I've grown older, I've come to appreciate the beauty in simplicity, in naturalness, and in individuality.

In a world where beauty standards are constantly evolving, it's essential to redefine what beauty means to us. We need to create a more inclusive and expansive definition of beauty, one that celebrates diversity, promotes body positivity, and values individuality.

As long as you think you’re beautiful that should be the only opinion that matters.

It's about embracing our unique qualities, celebrating our differences, and promoting a more inclusive and compassionate definition of beauty.

Thanks for reading,

xoxo
